Kitchen & Interiors Trends 2017

Here at The Cupboard Door Company we like to keep a finger on the industry pulse and pass on any juicy nuggets of information to our customers. We were glued to this month’s KBB Review interview with Houzz UK and Ireland’s managing director Andrew Small who shares exciting forecasts about home renovations for the next 12 months gathered by the design platform. Notably the kitchen is the room that people are planning the highest investment in, spending £18,000 on average on renovations to kitchens over 150sq ft.

Home owners are increasingly choosing to enlist the services of professional kitchen designers, rather than undertaking the work themselves. If your business is anything to do with kitchen design, or any profession related to property refurbishment or new builds, and you haven’t set up your Houzz profile, now would be a great time to do so!

Popularity of TV shows taking place in the kitchen, such as the Great British Bake Off, appear to have fuelled the interest of a growing number of UK viewers to spend more time in the kitchen. Home owners are also investing far more in top end kitchen appliances, according to a recent report published on 24th August by Kitchens & Bathroom News, featuring interesting data provided by NFU Mutual, the value of British kitchens has doubled in three years!

2017 Pantone® Home + Interiors palettes were revealed at 2016 International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago, where colour expert and executive of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice (Lee) Eiseman, unveiled nine colour palettes set to “combine the unexpected with the familiar”. Colour and design trend predictions include “the resurgence of black and white imagery; power-clashing – the use of unexpected colour combinations; pixelated and digitised patterns; and the popularity of green.” We particularly like the look of the “At Ease” colour palette and think this will translate well into kitchen design. The palette includes pastel colours featuring popular neutrals, blended with muted tones. Read the full official International Housewares Association Pantone press release for full details.
